Your data stays local unless you turn on Sync.

Local data and optional Sync

Local data includes the content you create, item relationships, tags, schedules, recurring tasks, Today plans and preferences. When Sync is enabled, this content and your synced settings are sent to our cloud service. Signing in alone does not upload your lists if you do not have Sync access. Turning off Sync stops future syncing but does not delete the existing cloud copy.

Accounts and email

We use your email address and an account identifier to sign you in, check Sync access and associate your cloud data with your account. Supabase provides account authentication and cloud storage. Resend delivers login codes and requested account or Sync setup emails. Setup emails may contain a private link to subscribe or manage a subscription. Do not forward these links.

Subscriptions

Polar processes subscription payments and account billing. Nook sends Polar your verified email address and account identifier to associate a subscription with your account. Nook receives subscription status to determine Sync access. Your tasks and notes are not sent to Polar or Resend, and Nook does not receive your full payment card details.

Website analytics

The Nook website uses Google Analytics to understand website usage. The private Sync setup page does not load analytics. Website analytics are separate from the contents of your lists and notes.

Security and use of your data

Cloud connections use HTTPS. Access to cloud data is restricted to the signed-in account. Sync is not end-to-end encrypted. Protect your devices and email account, and do not include information you do not want stored in a cloud service when using Sync.

We do not sell your task data, use it for advertising or train AI models on it.

Deletion and retention

You can delete your account from Sync → Manage my account → Delete account in the iOS app. This removes your account and associated data from the active Sync database. It does not erase local copies stored on your devices. After you confirm deletion, Nook stops renewal of your Nook Sync subscription before deleting your account and cloud data. If stopping renewal fails, your account is not deleted and you can try again.

Service backups and operational logs may retain information until they expire under the providers’ retention practices. Payment providers may retain transaction records for their legal and accounting obligations. Contact us if you need help with a deletion request.
